Winning a Silver Quality Award is ANYTHING but easy.

In fact, it can be downright CONFUSING and OVERWHELMING!
  • The Application Feels Like a Foreign Language: You know your facility inside and out, but the award application questions seem written in a different language. You struggle to understand exactly what they're asking and how to best showcase your strengths.

  • You're Flying Blind with No Roadmap: The AHCA/NCAL guidelines provide a starting point, but you're left guessing about the specifics. You're never quite sure if you're on the right track, which leads to wasted time, second-guessing, and anxiety.

  • The 60% Failure Rate Looms Large: With most applicants not making the cut, the Silver Quality Award feels unattainable. You worry that your hard work and dedication won't be recognized, leaving you stuck and unrecognized.

Just Imagine...

  • IMAGINE the prestige of winning the Silver Quality Award. It validates your commitment to quality for residents, families, and staff.

  • IMAGINE a streamlined process where you confidently demonstrate your center's strengths, leading to success – and recognition.

  • IMAGINE the sense of accomplishment and pride that comes with officially standing among the top tier of care providers.

  • IMAGINE the boost in staff morale. Earning the Silver Award shows your team that their dedication to quality care is valued and recognized. It's a powerful tool for attracting and retaining top talent.

  • IMAGINE the positive impact on your bottom line. Winning the award isn't just about prestige. It can lead to increased occupancy rates, improved reimbursement, and enhanced reputation within the community.

I am very thankful for Ralph

    Thomas Lavallee

Ralph Peterson was instrumental in helping my facilities (all seven at the time) prepare applications for AHCA's Silver Quality Award. In late June, all seven received notification that they are Silver recipients for 2019! I could not be more proud of my team and I am very thankful for Ralph's steady guidance. I recommend Ralph to any facility embarking on the AHCA Quality Award process.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • What are the membership requirements to apply for the Silver Award?

Similar to the Bronze Award, to apply for the Silver Award, your organization must be a member in good standing of AHCA/NCAL. The membership needs to cover all services included in your application (e.g., if applying for both assisted living and skilled nursing, your membership should include both).

    • Can we apply for the Silver Award if we haven't won the Bronze Award yet?

No, to be eligible for the Silver Award, your organization must have already received the Bronze Quality Award. This ensures you have a foundation in the quality improvement principles of the program.

    • What are the survey requirements for skilled nursing care centers to win the Silver Award?

Skilled nursing care centers must meet the following survey criteria to receive the Silver Award: No regulatory deficiencies at the Immediate Jeopardy or Substandard Quality of Care level on any Medicare/Medicaid survey in cycles 1 and 2. A weighted two-cycle survey score equal to or below 60 points, with cycle 1 weighted 2/3 and cycle 2 weighted 1/3, OR at least three stars on the Survey component of the Five-Star System.

    • We are an ICF/IID provider. Are there different survey requirements for us?

Yes, for ICF/IID providers, the requirement is that the count of Conditions of Participation Deficiencies on your most recent standard surveys is below your state average for the past two fiscal years (October 2021 to September 2023).

    • What if our facility doesn't meet all the Silver Award survey criteria?

Even if your facility doesn't meet all the survey criteria, you are still encouraged to apply for the Silver Award. While you won't be eligible to receive the award this year, you will receive valuable feedback on your application. This feedback can guide your improvement efforts and help you achieve the Silver Award in the future.
