Winning a Gold Quality Award is ANYTHING but easy.

In fact, it can be downright CONFUSING and OVERWHELMING!
  • The Application Feels Like a Foreign Language: You know your facility inside and out, but the award application questions seem written in a different language. You struggle to understand exactly what they're asking and how to best showcase your strengths.

  • You're Flying Blind with No Roadmap: The AHCA/NCAL guidelines provide a starting point, but you're left guessing about the specifics. You're never quite sure if you're on the right track, which leads to wasted time, second-guessing, and anxiety.

  • The 60% Failure Rate Looms Large: With most applicants not making the cut, the Bronze Quality Award feels unattainable. You worry that your hard work and dedication won't be recognized, leaving you stuck and unrecognized.

Just Imagine...

  • IMAGINE the prestige of winning the Gold Quality Award. It validates your commitment to quality for residents, families, and staff.

  • IMAGINE a streamlined process where you confidently demonstrate your center's strengths, leading to success – and recognition.

  • IMAGINE the sense of accomplishment and pride that comes with officially standing among the top tier of care providers.

  • IMAGINE the boost in staff morale. Earning the Gold Award shows your team that their dedication to quality care is valued and recognized. It's a powerful tool for attracting and retaining top talent.

  • IMAGINE the positive impact on your bottom line. Winning the award isn't just about prestige. It can lead to increased occupancy rates, improved reimbursement, and enhanced reputation within the community.

We got a Gold site visit

    Tawnya Dennis

Ralph Peterson has been amazing as our coach for the Quality Awards program and our journey to GOLD. We actually started working with him last year, a little bit late in the year in 2022, so we didn't have enough time to really benefit from his services as much as we could have. But with his coaching, we were able to get a gold site visit, which is a major feat for us. And the site visit was a great experience, we didn't win the award. However, we got a great feedback back report and we're currently working with Ralph for the 2024 gold application cycle, and we are hopeful that we're going to win this year.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • Can a multi-facility corporation apply for the Gold Award as a whole?

No, multi-center corporations cannot apply as a single entity. However, their individual centers or organizations are eligible to apply independently if they meet the other requirements.

    • How are the survey eligibility criteria for skilled nursing care centers calculated for the Gold Award?

The survey eligibility criteria are calculated based on two cycles of Medicare/Medicaid certification surveys. The cycles are weighted differently, with the most recent cycle having the most impact. Applicants must meet all three criteria, including having no Immediate Jeopardy or Substandard Quality of Care deficiencies, a weighted two-cycle survey score at or below 60 points, or at least three stars on the Survey component of the Five-Star System.

    • What are the survey eligibility criteria for Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICFs/IID)?

ICFs/IID must have a count of Conditions of Participation Deficiencies on their most recent standard surveys below their State Average for the past two fiscal years (October 2021 to September 2023) to be eligible for the Gold Award. Special consideration is provided for applicants exceeding the state average by less than 1 point.

    • Can an applicant with multiple levels of care (e.g., assisted living and skilled nursing) apply for the Gold Award?

Yes, they can apply for either the entire organization or a distinct part of it. The distinct part must be a separately licensed level of care serving a specific market segment in a clearly defined location.

    • What happens if an applicant doesn't meet the survey eligibility criteria for the Gold Award?

If an applicant doesn't meet the survey eligibility criteria, they can still apply and receive valuable feedback on their application, but they will not be eligible to receive the Gold Award. They can, however, maintain active status in the program.
